Stormwater Management
Stormwater Management
Stormwater management refers to the practice of controlling and mitigating the runoff of rainwater or melted snow that flows over surfaces such as city streets, parking lots and other impervious surfaces. When precipitation falls onto these surfaces, it cannot be absorbed by the ground as it would be in natural environments, leading to excess water flowing into storm drains, rivers, and other water bodies. Unmanaged stormwater runoff can lead to a variety of environmental and infrastructure problems, including flooding, erosion, water pollution, and damage to aquatic ecosystems.
